CANCER

From managing cancer-related pain and reducing nausea caused by chemotherapy to easing anxiety associated with a cancer diagnosis and providing end-of-life comfort, medical cannabis offers support for those living with cancer. While it is not a cure for cancer, research suggests that medical cannabis can be beneficial when used alongside conventional treatments. For patients dealing with the challenges of a cancer diagnosis and its effects on both themselves and their loved ones, alternative treatments like cannabis-based therapies can offer significant relief. Traditional methods such as surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy often come with harsh side effects, prompting many to explore cannabis treatments to help manage symptoms. Research indicates that cannabinoids, such as CBD and THC found in cannabis, may help relieve pain in patients who experience adverse effects from chemotherapy. Additionally, the stress-relieving properties of CBD may assist cancer patients dealing with anxiety and sleep disturbances. 1 in 4 patients using medicinal cannabis experienced no nausea or vomiting during chemotherapy. 64% of patients in the US reported a reduction in pain after using medical cannabis. 24% of patients using cannabis-based treatments did not need to use rescue medications following a chemotherapy cycle.
